Description

Mark Sebastian’s debut album (2008).

From MOJO:

John Sebastian’s younger brother presents his own credentials.

He became part of our lives way back in 1966, when as a 15 year-old he penned Summer In The City, the Lovin’ Spoonful’s only chart topper. The son of a harmonica virtuoso and the woman who managed Carnegie Hall, Mark Sebastian did the whole Greenwich Village thing in the 60’s and worked with everybody who mattered, acquiring something of a reputation as a 12-string toter. Since then, he continued to mix with the right people (members of his circle of friends have included Brian Wilson and Laura Nyro) which is why it’s unsurprising that Van Dyke Parks, Jim Keltner and Little Feat’s Fred Tackett supplement the back-up squad here. A singer-songwriter of undoubted ability, he’s hard to pin down as he makes his way through Pop, Blues, Folk and other grooves, making the most impact via the Jazz waltz of From Windows In The Village and It’s An Outlaw World’s slice of marshmallow funk.
